Eight cognitive domains

MOSAIC-48 measures eight cognitive domains with 48 items, then shows you one overall index and your own eight-axis profile. Every item is built in-house on measurement principles from cognitive-science research.

Measurement basis

Item formats were developed in-house, drawing on the measurement principles of the hierarchical CHC model of cognitive abilities, the open-source ICAR project, the Berlin Numeracy Test, and the Cognitive Reflection Test. No items are copied from existing instruments; the item bank was written from scratch to target the same cognitive operations.

How the assessment works

  1. Rule learning — learn short transformation rules and apply them immediately.
  2. Mixed blocks — reasoning, spatial, quantitative and verbal items appear interleaved.
  3. Memory and speed tasks — run as separate sessions with exposure and time limits.
  4. Delayed tasks and finish — the rules learned earlier are used again, then results are computed.

Before you begin

  • Complete the assessment in one sitting in a quiet environment. It takes about 20–25 minutes.
  • Do not use notes, calculators or zoom tools. Some items are shown for a limited time.
  • You cannot return to previous items. If the page reloads, you resume from the last saved point.

For a narrower margin — the 96-item precision assessment

Doubling the item count does not measure new abilities — it measures the same eight domains more finely. With twelve items per domain, the margin of measurement error on a domain score narrows from about 11.8 points to 8.3, and more sessions end with a top-two order we can state outright.
